George Awada: Plenty of festive cheer for happy Belfast Giants
Sunday, 30 December 2007
So with all the turkey gone and only one more party night to go, it has been a very good time of year for the team and the Giants fans.
December was set up to be a crucial start to our title run. Having 10 games, seven against teams above us, it was our chance to make up some ground. We have done just that, only losing two games leading up to the Cardiff double header.
It's always tough at this time of the season because you look forward to spending time with friends and family and eating and drinking whatever is put in front of you. But in the back of our minds is that our real holiday is when the season is over in April and we need to stay focused on winning games.
Taking care of Coventry in the two games was proof that we have turned that corner and are finding ways to win games we were losing in the first couple months of the season. Our weekend in Edinburgh was as to be expected - loads of supporters, plenty of goals, a handful of fights, and four points.
The cold and flu bug has hit the team for the holidays but after the amount of injuries we have had this year I think we will get though this without any repercussions.
Well on behalf of all the guys and the organization, we would like to thank all those that came down and supported us over the holidays.
We understand it's a busy month with shopping and work do's, but we were glad to bring some entertainment to the holidays and we hope you enjoyed it.
We wish everyone a great New Year and look forward to your support in our race for the title.
