Rover and out for Baird?
Sunday, 10 June 2007
LAWRIE Sanchez's Fulham will need to improve their offer for Southampton's Chris Baird - or risk losing the Northern Ireland international to Blackburn Rovers.
The Ewood Park outfit are understood to be monitoring developments regarding the Rasharkin man, who this week handed in a transfer request at the St Mary's Stadium.
The 25-year-old is valued at around £2.5m by Southampton, who have described Fulham's latest offer - thought to be in the region of £1m - as " derisory".
Should the Cottagers fail in their bid to bring the Saints' Player of the Year to London, Sanchez may look to sign Aston Villa's Aaron Hughes as the former Wycome Wanderers boss goes about adding tried and trusted faces to his playing pool.
Striker David Healy is expected to complete his switch from Leeds United in the near future, while Sheffield Wednesday's Chris Brunt has also been tipped to team up with Sanchez in the Premiership.
