Beauty: Cutting out middle man
Beauty consultant Wilma McKenzie is coming out from behind the counter to bring an innovative range of Aussie skincare into our homes

BEAUTY and skincare expert Wilma McKenzie certainly knows a thing or two about looking good.
The Belfast woman has spent the past 10 years working for Clarins and Clinique and is now bringing the innovative Aussie brand Nutrimetics into the homes of Northern Ireland women for the first time.
Through a range of expert home treatments, customers will be able to see for themselves what makes these innovative products so popular in France, New Zealand and Greece.
Says Wilma: "As well as direct selling the full range of Nutrimetics skincare products and make up, I'll be specialising in facial pampering experiences including mud and scrub (skin polishing and radiance), ultra care (an anti-ageing youthful boost) and hot towel (intensive moisture treatment), either for one person or a group of women who fancy a girlie pampering evening.
"I'll also be offering a basic skincare service to teenagers as well as a sip and dip (hand and foot therapy) treatment and a fast and fabulous make up treatment.
"Each treatment costs £30 and clients can either come to me or I will travel to them.
Adds Wilma: "Having worked for Clarins for so long, I thought that no other company could compare, but after trying Nutrimetics, I found that they were fabulous products - it's the only company I would have given up Clarins for.
"Discovering the range prompted me to come out from behind the counter and go it alone, something I always wanted to do.
"Now I can spend much more time with my clients. Standing behind a counter didn't make that possible. I was always aware of the other customers who were waiting in line.
"Now I can give in-depth skincare assessments and analysis in the comfort of the person's own home."
The Nutrimetics range was founded more than 40 years ago and the products are naturally enriched and inspired by nature's nurturing and caring properties. They contain extracts derived from apricots, avocados, honey, almonds, lemons, limes, oatmeal and papaya and none of the products are tested on animals.
Adds Wilma: "The jewel in the crown is the Nutri Rich Oil, containing 48pc apricot kernel oil which is known to have many anti-ageing benefits. It would normally cost £32.50, but is currently on offer for £22.50.
"Because I'm selling direct, I'm cutting out the middle man and the products are not as expensive to buy. As well as facial skincare, Nutrimetics also offers a full range of cosmetics and body care products."
With the arrival of harsh winter weather, Wilma has this advice for looking after your skin: "It is so important to get the basics right in any skincare regime. In winter our products must be gentle and non stripping. We must use a gentle creamy or milky cleanser.
"Nutrimetics Heritage range is for all skin types and contains sesame seed oil, apricot kernel oil and herbs.
"For the more mature skin I would recommend the Restore range. Restore is formulated with BioPhytox, a patented natural ingredient enriched with Hibiscus plant derivatives, clinically proven to help reduce the visible signs of ageing and restore a youthful appearance.
"Follow your cleansing with a non alcoholic toner. Alcohol will strip the skin of natural protective oils which in turn make the skin feel dry and sensitive. A good moisturiser with an SPF is not only important in summer but also in winter as well. All Nutrimetics moisturisers contain sunscreen. I would recommend the Ultra Care Moisturising Lotion SPF 18.
"Exfoliation is also vital during winter. Because of the extreme temperatures, skin can become very flaky. An exfoliator should be used once or twice a week depending on skin type.
"Heritage Honey and Almond Scrub is a wonderful pick me up which will soften the skin with the honey content, it will soothe the skin with the oatmeal, polish with almond meal, condition with apricot oil and stimulate with peppermint oil.
"Another tip for winter skin is to use a hydrating masque at least once a week. Nutrimetics Heritage Hydrating Masque is a rich and creamy masque enriched with jojoba, apricot and sweet almond oils to moisturise and restore dehydrated skin, plus ginkgo biloba, ginseng and Echinacea, which gives a boost to any skin type. This masque can also be left on overnight for a really intensive treatment."
She adds: "Don't forget about the eye contour area! The skin around the eyes is much finer than that of an eggshell. In fact it is five times thinner!
"Facial moisturisers are too rich for this delicate area so a specific eye cream must be used. Heritage Eye Cream is a lovely cream for all skin types and will help to keep the contour area moisturised while also dealing with puffiness. For the more mature eye area, again, I would recommend Restore Eye Cream which helps lift and firm.
"Also, remember, to make our skin and hair look in fabulous condition we must drink lots of water, not only to look good on the outside, but also on the inside as well.
