Beauty: Know your body
Sunday, 23 September 2007
Moisturising isn't just about lashings of cream to keep skin soft and supple, or to reduce the signs of ageing.
Astral, the all-over moisturiser, believes it is important to use the time spent moisturising to do a full service body MOT and get to know your body better!
We all know what we should be doing to check our body for anything unusual, but do we all do it? Sadly the answer is no!
All is not lost.
Ahead of Breast Cancer Awareness month, Astral is here to offer easy to follow tips and guidelines for women to perform their own body MOT's confidently.
Checking your breasts when moisturising your body is the ideal way to pick up on any abnormalities or changes in your breast tissue.
It is important to 'get to know' your breasts, by simply doing regular checks to see what is 'normal' for you.
> After showering, take a generous amount of creamy Astral into the palm of your hands and glide your palm over your breast in a circular motion as if you were washing your breast.
> Start around your armpit and move towards the top of the breast still keeping with the circular motion.
> After, move your hand towards the middle of the breast finishing underneath.
> Ensure you apply enough pressure that you are comfortable with.
> Repeat on the other breast.
You will know better than anyone how your breast feels and looks normally, so if you do notice a change, see your GP.
Don't worry that you may be making an unnecessary fuss, your doctor is there to help.
It's best to ensure your body is running in tip-top condition and to eliminate any worries!
Astral cares for your skin but also cares about the rest of you!
It has been a house-hold name in moisturisers since 1950 and now wants its users to have a greater awareness of their body.
In a recent interview for Woman's Own, British icon Joanna Lumley said: " Thankfully 35 years ago someone introduced me to Astral moisturiser and it's the only thing I can use with complete safety.
"I travel everywhere with a little pot of Astral in my bag."
Astral is available from supermarkets and all leading pharmacies at a recommended retail price of £1.49 for 50ml, £4.19 for 200ml and £7.99 for 500ml pot.
